I was elected as the County Councillor for the Ward in 2004 having served as a Community Councillor for many years.
My efforts on behalf of residents were recognised two years later when I joined the Cabinet with responsibility for Finance. This role was expanded to embrace Emergency Planning. Planning and Development IT including Chair of the SRS Strategic Board (joint regional IT Provider) and Chair of the Welsh Purchasing Consortium amongst other things. I held that position for 16 years until the change of administration.
Since then, I have held the position of Chair of Planning.
I am a committee member of the Governance and Audit Committee
I am Chair of the Charity of Charles Pratt which gives Educational Grants to students in the Mathern area.
I also serve on the Monmouthshire Farm School educational Trust which gives Grants to students.
Locally I have continued to support the Community Council, the Caerwent Community Centre and give support to other groups as requested. I regularly visit the Community café at the Chapel where I am available to discuss matters with Residents. I also liaise with the police on a regular basis and am in contact with the MoD in relation to the base.
