I was first elected to Monmouthshire County Council in May 2022 in the LLanbadoc and Usk Ward having previously been elected to Usk Town Council in 2004, serving as Mayor in 2008/9. I currently chair the Conservative Group of County Councillors at MCC. Since being elected, my passions have seen myself lead on Highways and Potholes issues forcing MCC to rethink its interventional approach.
I am the fourth generation of the Kear family to have lived in his hometown of Usk and am deeply involved in the community and the Ward that I represent. I currently lead Usk in Bloom, Usk Civic Society, Usk Business Group, the local Speed Watch Group and Little Mill Village Hall.
I have over 40 years in corporate banking, specialising in healthcare financing. I currently work as Senior Relationship Manager at a major international Bank, focusing on loans for care facilities across Wales, the Midlands, and Southwest England; previously, holding roles at RBS, Barclays, Handelsbanken and Assetz Capital including Relationship Director and Deal Review Director.
